Investigative Services offered by Haigh and Haigh -
Investigations can be complex and every investigation has its own unique set of circumstances. Some tasks, like finding records in a local courthouse, can be straightforward while other investigations - such as surveillance - require a great deal of experience, skill and specialized equipment. For this reason we are unable to provide a set price for services on this web page.
We do, however, offer a FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION, by phone or in person, where we will ask the necessary questions to determine the special circumstances involved in your investigation. Based on your answers we will be able to estimate the anticipated steps, time, and cost to complete your investigation. Rates - Do we really have to talk about rates? Yes, I'm afraid we do. Basically, my rates must be $75.00 per hour, plus expenses. Expenses are usually 50 cents per mile driven, and actual costs for records research, digital media, hotel bills and intergalactic travel. I will pay for my own coffee and Twinkies. You can probably find someone else who is willing to work for less. Or much, much more. One Investigator, one vehicle - $75.00 per hour, plus expenses. Please take the time to read and understand what I do: When I turn the key in the ignition, I will record the beginning mileage and set the trip odometer. I will log the beginning time in my mileage log book, kept in each vehicle. I will turn on my Black Box video camera and it will stay on during the entire work period, to be turned off, only when I complete the day's work, turn off the engine, and record ending mileage and time. This device will constantly record video through the windshield of the car. And it records my GPS location for the entire work period. If it is a 8 hour day, you will have 8 continuous hours of video - even if you don't want it. This data will verify the time I spend, where I go, and what I do on your dime. Depending on the type of work, I might engage left side, right side and rear video from the vehicle simultaneously. If needed, I have covert body cameras that are used when I get out of the car. And, I often take hundreds and hundreds of digital still photos from a variety of cameras. It is illegal in Florida to secretly record audio, so I will not be doing that! Let's talk about doing surveillance on a moving vehicle. This is my most-requested task from clients and the most misunderstood. One investigator, driving one car CANNOT safely and efficiently conduct single-car surveillance on a moving vehicle. If you want me to try it, and if you want to waste your money, then please realize that I advise against it. Please expect me to fail, and you still have to pay the fees. 2-Car Surveillance - In most situations, I can currently give you a break on the second investigator and car - vitally needed to even attempt surveillance on a moving vehicle. But, if you will do the math, this can get very expensive. Most people say, "But, I can't afford that." Before you ask me to cut my rates, please consider this. On the day(s) after the described scenario - after taking many hours of digital video and photos, I will spend just as many hours preparing a detailed comprehensive written report at no cost to you. This report will prepare you, and me, if needed for future court appearances and review by attorneys. This report will explain the significance or lack thereof, of each item of evidence. I will spend many hours processing and organizing the digital evidence, if there is any, for you. I will archive all the data for future reference and safekeeping, and provide copies of the digital media. This work is the most misunderstood and unappreciated aspect of hiring a private investigator. So yes, everything is negotiable. If you do not need the expertise and diligence that I usually put into my work, then yes, maybe we can work with you about keeping the cost down. People say, "You get what you pay for." That's about the dumbest statement I have ever heard. You can only hope that you got what you paid for, but most often you get much less. If you want a good product, then you must "Pay for what you get". Beware of offers that sound too good to be true. |
